Julie Fritz

I am Julie Fritz and I am delighted to teach your child about Art. I have an Associate Degree in Art from John A Logan College in Carterville Il, and a Bachelors Degree in Art Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. I am currently enrolled in a program out of the University of Idaho in order to earn my Masters of Art Teaching. This marks my 13th year of teaching art at Hermitage Elementary. I think I am one of the luckiest teachers, in that I watch a student grow and progress from Kindergarten to 4th grade. We get to know each other very well. I have a good idea of each student’s ability level, and they grow to know my expectations for behavior and artwork.

I believe that Elementary Art should be fun for everyone, not just the artistically talented, so I strive to create lessons which will ensure a degree of success for any student who is willing to listen, follow directions, and put their best effort into their project. In my art class, students will: learn about artists, both the masters, and the more modern, explore many art materials and techniques, discuss and in some cases write about art using the Metro Nashville mandated art vocabulary for their grade level….oh, and have lots of fun.

I always have art shirts available for use by the students on a messy art day, but on an art day, you may want to send your child in clothes where the sleeves can be pushed up out of the way.
